Every autumn, between mid-September and October, the forests of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park are filled with the unmistakable sound of deer in rut. This phenomenon, known as the Brama del Cérvol (Cervol's Bellow), is one of the most impressive natural spectacles to be experienced in the Catalan Pyrenees.
What is the roar?
During the mating season, male deer emit powerful bellows to attract females and mark their territory against other males. These roars resonate throughout the valleys of Alt Pallars, creating a unique atmosphere that attracts nature lovers and photographers from all over Spain each year.
Where to observe the Brama del Cérvol
Free and easily accessible observation points are available in the Alt Pallars National Hunting Reserve and the Alt Pirineu Natural Park. Accredited guides can also be hired to offer interpretive routes so you can enjoy the spectacle safely and in a way that respects the environment. https://bramaaltpallars.cat.
