Exploring the Gerdar Forest and the Barranc de Gerber Waterfall: An Adventure between Nature and Emotion
Distance 6.1 km - Positive elevation gain 265m - Route type Out and back - Time 2:00h
The day dawns with the promise of adventure as we head to the Bosc de Gerdar, an oasis of greenery and freshness in the middle of the imposing Pyrenees. We park near the refuge and prepare to begin our hike to the mysterious Barranc de Gerber waterfall.
Crossing the Enchanted Forest
The trail, marked by yellow posts, takes us into the Bosc de Gerdar, where the trees rise majestically and the murmur of the streams accompanies us on our journey. We cross crystal clear streams and contemplate the beauty of the waterfalls that make their way through the lush vegetation.
Challenges on the Way
After crossing the road, we face a short climb out of the forest, before diving back into the greenery. The terrain changes as we ascend and enter among rocks. It is crucial to remain cautious, as the rocks can be slippery due to the humidity.
The Encounter with the Gerber Ravine
Finally, we reach the Barranc de Gerber river, where a new challenge awaits us: crossing the completely soaked wooden footbridges. Carefully, we move forward and turn left, ascending rocks until we reach some stone stairs that lead us to the longed-for Mirador de la Cascada.
The Spectacle of Nature
The view of the waterfall takes our breath away, with the roaring torrent of water falling forcefully in the middle of the natural landscape. Despite the persistent rain that continues to batter us, we take a moment to marvel at the grandeur of nature. Gerber Falls is the largest in the national park, with a drop of 125 meters.
Return between Memories and Natural Beauty
With the rain as our constant companion, we begin the return journey along the same path, each step taking us back through the memories of this incredible adventure. Although the return journey becomes shorter, every corner of the forest reminds us of the beauty and emotion of this unforgettable day in nature.
