Start of the Adventure
Our adventure begins at the information booth at Estany de Sant Maurici, where we say goodbye to the hustle and bustle of the modern world to enter the tranquility of nature. Following the signs for the Vall de Monestero, we head towards our destination. This option is if you go by 4x4 taxi from Espot which usually costs 11.50 euros round trip.
You can also do it from the Prat de Pierro parking lot but it is longer.
Exploring the Valley
We descend towards the Ernest Mallafré refuge , enjoying impressive views of the surrounding landscape. After a short stretch of track, we enter the valley, where an unbeatable view of the Encantats welcomes us.
Ascent through Nature
The path takes us through a fir forest and then into a black pine forest with brambles, offering a variety of landscapes as we ascend. We pass through the Fangassals de Monestero, an area of great beauty with waterfalls that will leave you breathless.
Discovering Hidden Treasures
We continue ascending, crossing mosaics of scree and small pastures, until we reach a large pasture. Following the course of the river, we reach a rocky step formed by granite blocks, which we cross with ease.
Arrival at Monestero Lake
After skirting a small pond, we finally arrive at Monestero Pond, an oasis of tranquility in the middle of wild nature. Here we can stop, breathe the pure mountain air and contemplate the beauty that surrounds us.
Return and Reflection
After marveling at the beauty of the Monestero Valley, we set off back to the information booth at the Estany de Sant Maurici. Each step brings us closer to civilization, but the memory of this adventure will remain in our hearts forever.

THERE IS ALSO THE DIFFICULT OPTION WHICH WOULD BE A CIRCULAR ROUTE FROM SANT MAURICI, PASSING THROUGH THE VALLEY, CLIMBING TO THE COL DE MONASTERO AND DOWN THE ESTANY NEGRE DE PEGUERA!!! APPROXIMATELY 7 HOURS OF ROUTE BUT WORTH IT.
