Route to Gerber Lake
Distance 8.5 km - Positive elevation gain 350 m - Route type Round trip - Time 4h
In the heart of the Pyrenees lies the Aigüestortes National Park , a natural paradise that invites adventurers to discover its hidden corners. On this occasion, we invite you to explore a spectacular route that will take you through the peripheral area of the park, offering breathtaking views and an unforgettable experience.
Start of the Adventure
The adventure begins at the car park next to the La Peülla chairlift in the Baqueira-Beret ski resort. With ample parking space, it is the perfect starting point for our hike.
Ascent to the Gerber Valley
After crossing the Bonaigua River, we begin the ascent towards the Gerber Valley. This first stage, without trees, allows us to warm up our engines with a gentle incline.
Exploring the Lakes

As we advance, the slope becomes steeper and the landscape transforms. Zigzagging through the trees, we reach the first of the lakes, the picturesque Estanyola de Gerber.
Overcoming reservoirs and surrounded by waterfalls, we reach the second lake, Estanyera de Gerber de Baix. Its elongated shape and glaciers add a special charm to our route.
The Jewel of the Route: Gerber Lake
The highlight of our adventure is the majestic Gerber Lake. Surrounded by towering mountains and pine forests, it is a breathtaking place. We decide to continue to the opposite end of the lake, where a beautiful waterfall awaits us as our reward.
Conclusion
This route to the Estany de Gerber is much more than a simple walk. It is an adventure that connects us with the majesty of nature and invites us to explore new horizons. Do you dare to discover this hidden treasure in Aigüestortes?
Get ready for an unforgettable experience and join us on this exciting adventure!
Gerber Waterfall
Another route that I recommend is the Gerber waterfall. It is very fast, lasting 10 minutes and is on the way to the Gerber Lake route, the only thing is that you have to park somewhere else. HERE .
It is the largest waterfall in the National Park with about 125m high. ( https://www.20minutos.es/viajes/destinos/impresionante-cascada-125-metros-altura-montanas-lleida-gerber-5076271/ )
